Exercise Tips for people with Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia is a disorder with a collection of symptoms which are chronic and often fluctuate throughout a day. The list of symptoms are extensive such as:
- Chronic muscle pain
- Tender trigger points
- Sleep disturbances, restless leg syndrome, sleep apnea
- Fatigue and decreased energy
- Mood swings
- Tension headaches
- Anxiety
- Depression
A Few Tips:
- Start and progress with exercise very slowly
- Because pain moves around it is hard to plan out your exercise sessions- make a plan based on how you are feeling that day
- Morning exercise may work better than later in the day
- Applying heat may alleviate some symptoms
- Focus on deep breathing, stretching and relaxation
