The Key to Maintain a Good Body Posture as We Age. Part 2
Part 2
This week’s blog is written by Vintage Fitness personal trainer and physiotherapist, Cristina. Cristina has 19 years of experience as a physiotherapist in Brazil and has a 2 year fitness degree from Humber College.
This is part 2 of a series on how to maintain a good position as we age. Last week we discussed how as we age we tend to adapt a Kyphotic posture and discussed the Straight-arm shoulder blade squeeze exercise to improve our posture.
Today, Cristina will give us nother exercise to add to our toolbox to battle against Kyphotic posture.
Exercise
Band Rowing
- Anchor your elastic tubing or band at about waist height. Take one end in each hand.
- Sit or stand with your feet hip-width apart.
- Hold your arms straight in front of you. Adjust your distance to create slight tension in the tubing or band.
- Pull the band straight back, without shrugging your shoulders. Your elbows will pass alongside your waist.
- Repeat 10 times.
- 3 sets.
Next week Cristina will advice us on an additional new exercise to improve our posture as we age.
Good Luck!
Erin
