Do you eat more when you are happy
As a blast of summer hits Toronto this week our thoughts go to summer holidays, BBQ's and fun with friends. I always associate "emotional eating" with stress and difficult times. A study done by Dutch researchers looked at 86 students and asked them to watch movie clips some of which were happy movies and some sad. The students were then brought various unhealthy snacks (chips, chocolates) and asked to fill out a questionnaire. Amongst the group that saw themselves as emotional eaters, more unhealthy snacks (100 calories more) were consumed when watching the happy movie clip.
