Bone Density and Exercise: A Follow-up from CBC National News Story
Last night on CBC’s national news they covered a story about bone density and the intake of calcium in older adults. The main crux of the story was that older adults may not need as much calcium in their diets as was once thought. If you have low bone density you should be weight training for your bone health.
You will notice towards the end of the national news clip the Vintage Fitness founder, Erin Billowits, with a client in downtown Toronto, Pamela. Note: The Clip is not longer available at CBC
One of the exercises shown in the video- squats against the wall with a ball holding hand weights is great for building bone density in the hips and lower back, strengthening the legs, upper arms and improving balance.
