6 dimensions of wellness
Good Afternoon,
It is so easy to focus only on parts of our wellness that we know or are comfortable and wonder what is missing. The International Council for Active Aging has developed 6 dimensions of wellness.
- Physical
- Emotional
- Social
- Intellectual
- Vocational
- Spiritual
Physical wellness impacts emotional health as it can make us feel more upbeat, social wellness as we often exercise in groups as well as intellectual and spiritual health. Try drawing a wheel with each of these 6 wellness around the outside of your wheel. Now rate yourself on how good you are feeling about each dimension in your life. Most of us will end up with a lopsided wheel!!
Look at which dimension of wellness you are lacking in your life and think about setting a small goal to improve it. It could be joining a book-club if you are low on the intellectual part of the wheel or hiring a life coach if you are feeling a bit lost about your life purpose or vocation.
